Accessibility

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, level AA. That is the target, not a certificate. We test as we build and we fix what we find, and we would rather hear about a problem than have you work around it quietly.

Accessibility is part of the build here, not a pass at the end. The same standard applies to the sites we build for clients.

• Keyboard access everywhere. Every link, button and menu on the site can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone, including the mobile menu, which traps focus while it is open and returns focus to the button that opened it when it closes. A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the main content.
• Visible focus. Whatever the keyboard is on has a visible outline, and that outline inverts to stay visible on the dark sections.
• Contrast checked on every page. Text and controls are checked against the backgrounds they sit on, at the sizes they are actually rendered.
• Text alternatives on images. Photographs carry a description. Decorative marks and icons are hidden from screen readers so they are not read out as noise.
• Video that stays out of the way. The short background clips are decorative. Each one sits on a still poster image, carries no sound, and is skipped entirely for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion, who sees the still image instead. Nothing on the site plays audio on its own.
• Reduced motion is respected. If your system is set to reduce motion, the fade-in and slide animations do not run. You get the finished layout immediately.
• Pages work with JavaScript off. The content is in the HTML. With scripts blocked or disabled, every page still renders in full and every link still works.
• Print styles. Any page prints cleanly, with the navigation, the video and the decorative elements dropped.

The booking calendar on our contact page is an embed from Cal.com. It runs inside a frame we do not control, so we cannot change how it handles keyboard focus, labels or contrast, and we will not claim it meets a standard we cannot test end to end.

When we find anything else that falls short, it gets listed here rather than quietly fixed later.

If any part of this site is hard to use, write to info@griffinjacobs.com and tell us what happened. The page you were on and the device or assistive technology you were using helps, but do not worry about getting the details right. A sentence is enough.

We reply within two business days. If the fix is quick we make it and tell you when it is live. If it is not quick we tell you what we are doing and when to expect it.
